50 free music tracks of your choice!

My budget is sadly on the decline these days. Less and less left over after having put fuel in the car and doing the weekly shopping. So when I see the word “Free”, it nearly always grabs my attention. Then I hunt through the small print for the bit where it says; “Free when you purchase…..” (at which point I am no longer reading the small print!).

So imagine my glee when I read that eMusic.com are giving away 50 music tracks of your choice from their catalogue of nigh on four million songs. So what´s the catch? None! OK, you have to sign up with them, which includes giving them your credit card number. However, you have 14 days in which to make up your mind as to whether you want to remain a member or not. Only after the 14 days are up do they debit your card. And in those 14 days you can download up to 50 titles of your choice. Sweet! That can be either single tracks or complete albums (what counts is the number of total tracks downloaded). If you go over the 50 limit, your account will be debited. If you cancel before the 14 days are up, and download no more than 50 tracks, no charges are incurred.
There is a download manager offered by eMusic which speeds up the process of downloading albums. However, you do not need to download and install it. It just means that if you then decide to download an entire album, without the manager, you have to do so track-by-track. This offer lasts until August 28th 2008. All music is compatible for any MP3 player including the iPod®, Creative Zen and Walkman® from Sony.
So the only remaining question is, can I find 50 tracks I want within the next 14 days? Hmmm? Let me think. You bet I will! The 80´s are my favourite era. And with an 8GB card in my phone I am sure to find plenty to suit my taste. Genres include: Alternate/Punk, Blues, Classic, Country/folk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, New age, Sound Tracks and even Spiritual. Something for everyone, in other words. So if you want to find me this weekend, I will be over at www.emusic.com searching the archieves for Bauhaus, Ultravox and early John Foxx.

Ah, good tip! Now to bring my to-download list to only 50… I’ll probably spend the rest of the month trying to decide. Thanks for the heads-up.
