Welcome to My Today Screen, an all-in-one resource for Windows Mobile users, providing reviews, tips, guides, and many other resources to help you realize the full potential of your Windows Mobile device. Tariq Bamadhaj and Doug Goldring co-founded this site in 2008, after realizing that many Windows Mobile sites were expanding their coverage into other areas, or into mobility generally. With the number of sites devoted exclusively to Windows Mobile quickly shrinking, Tariq and Doug saw a need for a resource devoted exclusively to both novice and experienced Windows Mobile users. Hence, was born My Today Screen: Another Look At Windows Mobile.
Owners:

Doug Goldring (Editor-In-Chief and Co-Founder): Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Doug fled all the way to Ohio where he received an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Political Science from Miami University (OH). Doug then returned to Pittsburgh where he received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He them immediately took up the life of a nomad or more precisely an attorney with the Department of Justice (Federal Bureau of Prisons). In the next five years, Doug would live in Williamsport, PA; Lewisburg, PA; Seattle, WA; and Northern Virginia (what is technically known as the Washington, D.C. commuting area). Doug’s family is anxiously waiting to learn where their next home will be. After almost five years, however, they have grown quite comfortable in Virginia.
Doug is probably the last person you would ever expect to write for a mobile technology website. As an attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Doug negotiates multimillion dollar contracts, and litigates lawsuits from one end of the country to another (from sea to shining sea), all without the aid of even the simplest Blackberry device. Nonetheless, before he began practicing law, Doug was a writer and journalist dating back to his high school and college days. Writing about mobile technology seemed like the perfect way to dust off those old skills, and he has not looked back. In addition to My Today Screen, Doug is a frequent contributor to Gear Diary. In the past, Doug has served as Editor-In Chief for Just Another Mobile Monday, and has written for Aximsite. Doug rounds out the online experience by frequently participating in beta tests of some of the most well known products available for the Pocket PC. Doug is frequently referred to as the reviewer who never sleeps, as a result of the number of 3:00 am posts that have magically appeared with his name on them. Nonetheless, Doug does have a life outside of writing, or so his wife reminds him. When not writing reviews, Doug enjoys spending time with his two sons and baby daughter. Doug also enjoys playing guitar, digital photography, and watching Sponge Bob Square pants on the “talky-box” in the living room.
My current device is a Sprint Mogul by HTC running Windows Mobile 6.

Tariq Bamadhaj (Co-Founder and Administration & Advertising Director): Coming from Singapore, Tariq moved to the United States in August of 2007 and currently resides in Philadelphia, PA. Still in the midst of all legal paperwork for residency, he has found a lot of time to do the things he love.
Tariq has always been interested in technology, having formatted his first computer unknownly at age 12, he made it his mission to learn more about them instead of paying a technician $50 to restore Windows. At age 18, he got his hands on his first Personal Digital Assistant, a HandSpring Visor. Carrying a Palm-based PDA with a normal mobile phone was his routine until 3 years later when he got his first Pocket PC phone, the O2 XDA. And just like his habit of constantly changing mobile phones, he too changed his Pocket PC every couple of months as he went through the HP 6515, O2 mini and the O2 Exec (commonly called the HTC Universal) and now does all his reviews on an Eten Glofiish X500 which surprisingly, is his longest held Pocket PC (over 2 years now).
So in love with technology he is that when he had a lot of problems gathering resources from various sites when he wanted to soup up his phone, Tariq started Eten Blog dot Com in July of 2007, just after he graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Life Sciences (Biology). His aim was to create a ste where users of the said device would find all the information that they needed about their device, from tips and tricks to reviews of the various software and hardware. He later joined Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine as an Expert Blogger and has been writing for them since.
However, Tariq came to realize that Eten Blog was not well-positioned to serve users of Windows Mobile (partially because of the name) and so, in a weird turn of events, he teamed up with Doug Goldring to create the site you are now visiting, My Today Screen. Just like an Eten Blog, but more
Tariq loves reviewing new software, especially freeware, as well as accessories (Bluetooth headsets) and devices. Currently, he hopes to get his hands on an imate 8502 so he can just tell you how great it is.

Andrew Goldstein: Andrew “xdalaw” Goldstein (not shown in picture) has been a handheld gadget-geek for about ten years. This addiction began with his love for an old Casio B.O.S.S., and continued with a Sharp Organizer, various Palm OS Pilots and Visors, leading to his eventual Pocket PC/Windows Mobile string of devices. When convergance finally came in the form of a Cingular 8125 a couple of years ago, he was in heaven. Always seeking that elusive “perfect” device, Andrew currently enjoys playing with his Sprint Mogul and Treo 700Wx, along with his wife’s Treo 700P.
When not boring people while evangelizing Windows Mobile devices, or posting on many mobile tech forums, Andrew is a practicing criminal defense attorney and proud family guy. The crazy zoo he calls “home” is currently stocked with a wife, two kids, a dog a cat, and a ever-changing number of fish.
Aside from the interests listed above, Andrew loves politics, talk radio, political history and the New England Patriots.

May Cheung: My name is May C and I’m a technology enthusiast (aka gadget freak) who loves everything to do with technology. My exposure to the PDA industry didn’t come until late 2003 when I got a Palm Zire 71 device after being frustrated with using a paper organizer for years and discovering that it wasn’t really a workable solution. Needless to say, after making the plunge into the Palm device, I’ve never looked back. In late 2005, I started a blog called maceyr’s palm discovery now called Palm Discovery with a focus on helping Palm newbies learn how to use the Palm device and it has since changed to focus on smartphones as I continued to upgrade my Palm device to a Treo 650 smartphone and now a Windows Mobile Treo 750 smartphone. It’s always a lot of fun to “discover” something new with respect to these amazing little devices and I really enjoy doing reviews and helping others get just as excited about them as I am. Thanks to Tariq and Doug, I am getting this excellent opportunity to share my experiences with everyone!
The list of devices I own include:
- Palm Zire 71
- Palm Tungsten T3
- Palm Treo 650
- Treo 750
I am currently using both the Treo 650 and Treo 750 and carry both of them with me everywhere daily. Let’s just say I’ve got the best of both worlds.

DongHoon Shin. Born in Seoul, Korea, DongHoon has lived in many countries including Italy, Egypt, Thailand and now has found his home in US (Springfield, MO) where he graduated with degree in philosophy, religion, and psychology from Drury University. As a youngster, he was quite the gadget freak, always the first in line to buy the latest and greatest Alas, now that he actually has to work for living, he realizes that somethings has to be sacrificed in the interest of having food on the table ![]()
DongHoon currently works in the IT, which he has been doing as long as he can remember (since 1997). DongHoon loves active sports, music and cooking. He actually plays basketball and tennis (anyone up for a game?), plays few instruments, and is not a bad cook. A little unexpected considering the typical stereo type of someone in IT field.
Donghoon’s first contact with PDA devices came with the classic Toshiba e750, but he has since moved on to Eten M500 and then to Glofiish X500. He is grateful to Doug and Tariq for the opportunity to be part of My Today Screen and for giving him his first opportunity to write/review for a website.

Brian Campo. Originally from York, Pa; Brian spent time in the Navy and has lived throughout most of the East Coast with extended stops in Florida, South Carolina, New Jersey, and Virginia. He currently calls Raleigh, NC home where he works in IT and is starting a coral farm with his wife to supply livestock for saltwater aquariums. When not at home he can be found coaching his daughters soccer team and even getting in a little playing time himself in some adult leagues.
Technical and work related documents aside, writing is something that Brian has always had a passion for and getting a chance to merge this passion with his love for Windows Mobile is something he has been looking to do for quite some time. Being a loyal reader of Just Another Mobile Monday and Aximsite, MyTodayScreen seemed like the perfect place to mix those passions together. His love/hate relationship with productivity applications led him to the Pocket PC platform, but he has developed a strong interest in media, customization, and communication applications as well.
Brian can best be described as a gadget nomad whose journey began in the Navy when he was exposed to the Apple Newton by a coworker, and from there it was a desperate search for the ultimate digital companion. He started with the Palm IIIs and was happy with that for a time, but when offered a Jornada 520 from work he fell in love with the Pocket PC operating system. He later upgraded through a Cassiopeia E-200, an Ipaq 2215, and an Axim x50V (possibly the greatest device ever made) . Since then he has worked his way through a Cingular 2125, and a brief stint with a HTC StarTrek although those have since been recycled (read: sold off for newer gadgets). The Axim still survives (and can be seen frequently in his daughters backpack) along with the current repertoire of a Samsung BlackJack and a Cingular 8525. The BlackJack has become an indispensable item, and although you will catch him from time to time sporting the 8525, the BlackJack remains his primary device and is never far away. He is currently longing for the Sony Xperia X1.
Current Devices: Samsung BlackJack, Cingular 8525, Dell Axim X50v
Previous devices: Palm IIIs, HP Jornada 520
Casio Cassiopeia E-200, HP Ipaq 2215, Cingular 2125, HTC StarTrek (Cing 3125)
DENI TAKO. Deni was born in Germany but moved to the United States while she was just a mere infant. Currently, she resides in Orange County, California, but has taken a work assignment in Arizona until July 2008. Her work in politics started with Greenpeace in the early 90’s. She is currently working to get statewide initiatives on the ballots for the November elections in CA and AZ.
Deni’s first PDA purchase was a Palm T1, which lasted about 2 weeks, before it was traded in for an iPaq 4150, and the obsession with Pocket PC’s and Windows Mobile began. Current devices include an iPaq 4700 with WM 2003, and a Sprint Mogul with WM 6 Professional.
No gadget obsessed person can go forward without the support of their spouse, and Deni’s partner of 10 years, Judy, can usually be heard in the background saying, “You bought what? Don’t you already have something that does that?” As a result, Deni is quite grateful to Doug and Tariq for the opportunity to write for My Today Screen, so there is a new justification for buying new shiny things!
Niek Braam: Niek Braam is My Today Screen’s European connection, hailing from the Netherlands. Niek was afraid some of you may not know what or where the Netherlands was. He explains that it is, “not a town somewhere in Europe, but it’s a small country next to Germany and Belgium.” If you do not know where German and Belgium are, then you are on your own.
Niek is 24 years old and studying applied science and technology. While Niek has always enjoyed gadgets of all kinds, his first mobile computer and introduction to this world was the Palm IIIe. From that point forward, Niek was hooked. He quickly progress from the Palm IIIe to the Palm IIIc, Toshiba e300, HP6515 and HTC TYTN2.
Niek is also an entrepreunor, having started his own small business, in which he uses GNU licensed, or other open source software to create fantastic multimedia mixes and web designs. If you want to check out more of Niek’s work in that area, check out his Dutch-language website at http://www.braam-media.nl.
In his spare time (or maybe his snare time), Niek enjoys playing drums and teaching drumlines to others. Heck, he even created a website for that as well, www.SnareDrumming.Net . You high school band members out there might want to check out his site, you might learn a few things…even if they are not Windows Mobile relates. for people who like to develop their technique.
Rosario “Rosie” Then: My interest in computers has taken most of my life, but I discovered Pocket PC’s quite recently when I saw the first bright white screens that could edit Office documents. My very first PPC was an iPaq 3635 almost a decade ago, upgraded to a 2210 in ‘03, then to an HTC Advantage X7501 for Christmas ‘07 (I was a very good girl last year!).
Born & raised in the Caribbean, New York has been my home for over 2 decades, so I’m kind of an unusual demographic for a techno-geek: female, Hispanic, middle-aged, non-IT professional. I went to medical school for several years, but the need to work pushed off the rails the dream of becoming a doctor. Looking for independence & self-sufficiency brought me to the US, & an affinity for numbers & databases got me started first in banking, then in engineering project tracking & scheduling. All these years later I’m still at it, estimating at the railroad.
My gadgets are also a road into my hobbies: I’m a fangirl into sci-fi & horror; graphic novels, manga & anime, with medicine & science still up there among my interests. I’m not a gamer though, so I hope I can keep my geekdom membership anyway. Does Minesweeper count? <BEG>
Tariq & Doug made my day (& week, & month, & year) when they invited me to contribute. Like our readers, I’m an ever-learning user with some experience & a great enthusiasm for gadgets. I’m also a blabbermouth who loves to write, especially about my beloved toys. Hopefully I can share that love & learn alongside everyone.
