Adroid Is Not Taking On Windows Mobile
Or so HTC says. In fact, they claim that it actually complements it:
“T-Mobile G1 manufacturer HTC plans to develop more handsets based on Android. It maintain this will not affect its Windows Mobile business – the Google platform and Microsoft’s are ‘complementary’, it claimed. According to a report by DigiTimes, John Wang, Chief Marketing Officer at HTC, said that both systems have their merits, and so handsets based on either platform will appeal to different users.”
I couldn’t agree. They’re not even in the same leagues considering they cater to different groups of consumers. The Android platform, as we’ve seen so far, seems more for the casual user while the business professional will be sticking to his Windows Mobile devices. Which is not a bad thing because you need to know your market.
So it does seem that HTC is getting the best of both worlds by producing both Windows Mobile and Android based devices. Sure there might be some cabalism as some current Windows Mobile users would migrate to the Android platform but they’d still be under the HTC umbrella.
How do you think Android would affect Windows Mobile?
