Another Setback For Palm? Treo 800w Delayed Again.

Not necessarily the Palm Treo 800w
One of the most hotly anticipated Windows Mobile devices in the past year has been the Palm Treo 800w. This state of the art device was rumored to include
- a 320×320 resolution touchscreen
- built in GPS
- a new antenna-less design
- EVDO without the Rev A
- a 312mHz processor
Heck, I even heard a rumor that it could grill cheese sandwiches and even negotiate a new mortgage rate. I remember when I bought my Sprint Mogul last summer, I debated for quite some time whether to buy the Mogul, which was available NOW, or wait a few months for the new uberfone when the Palm Treo 800w came out in September 2007. Looks like I made the right decision, because WMExperts is now reporting that Plam has no plans to release any new phones in this quarter, meaning it will be mid-late summer before rumors of this one time uberfone become a reality again. Of course, by that time, grilling cheese will be old news and everyone will be able to negotiate a mortgage rate from their phone. Looks like Palm may have missed another boat with this one. What once was the second coming, looks like it may come out just in time to become too little too late.

All I ask for is wm6.1,320×320, speed, enough ram, wifi, bluetooth, gps, make it a little skinnier, cdma, fast data connection, good battery life, and dont mess up the keyboard and controls and Im getting one!!!
Ive been waiting for the ultimate WM device and this would be mine…It really shouldnt be too much to ask.

You might want to check out the imate Ultimate 8502. It seems to have everything that you are looking for. Still trying to get my hands on one to do a review.

Seriously, I am getting a little concerned that the Treo 800w will never live up to the hype that has been built. We’ll see. Who knows, maybe someone on the team will be able to get one and review it.

Unfortunately I have a feeling I wont get my “ultimate” device until the Treo 850w or 900w in 2009 or early 2010.. 
So if some of my specs fall off, I guess the first one changes to WM7!!!
Seriously though, that really shouldnt be too much to ask for in a phone should it these days??
Oh yeah, and with Subsidies put it in the $250 range or lower.
I was an early adopter of the Treo 650…when Treo Central had the counter less than 300,000 treos sold. I have since used the 700p, the 700wx, the 755 and now the Mogul. I enjoy the mogul tremendously and use tapwave to run palm programs that are not available for WM. With the recent addition of GPS on my mogul it has become a true asset in my business and personal life. I do like the Treo form factor and will consider switching back to palm if the RAM is greater than on my mogul. I must use goodlink email on my mogul and it eats up too much memory.
