AT&T Giving Free WiFi To Everyone

Well that is if you have the means and know how to get it. You see, AT&T is actually offering free WiFi access only to it’s iPhone’s users at certain locations such as Barnes and Noble, Starbucks most probably their other 71,000 hotspots as well (though I can’t confirm this).
The thing is, when you log on via WiFi through your iPhone, you would a portal that asks for your number after which you can access the net for free.
Now the thing is, a MacRumors reader has confirmed that the system is based on the iPhone’s user agent which means you could easily switch your device’s (be it a Pocket PC or laptop).
While he did manage to successfully log onto the WiFi hotspot with his WiFi through a laptop, he had used a valid iPhone number at the login screen. Not too sure if any AT&T number (or any number for that matter) would work.
Still worth a try. The next time you are on the lookout for some WiFi, let us know if this works for you.
Expect this to loophole to be patched pretty soon so get ‘em while they’re still there. (via MacRumors)

Go easy on us guys, us support folks for these hotspots, I mean. We’re trying our hardest to get this hammered out and working for all you AT&T customers. Just remember, it’s up to our software engineers/networking folks to get this up and running, don’t be mean to us friendly front line support guys if it doesn’t work just yet, or gets turned off for a short time. There are still a few kinks to work out, but we’re getting there! We’re always happy to help out our customers, and go far beyond the level of support you would receive from the reps overseas, hotspot support is local here in the States and we do our damned best to make sure you’re taken care of!
