Be Prepared! Don’t Break The Law on July 1st!
You, DO know what’s happening on July 1st, right? No, I’m not talking about the Canada Day holiday in Canada (mind you since I am Canadian, it is a big deal for me), but since most of the readers are from the US, there’s something more important that is relevant for those in the US, specifically those in California and Washington. Ah, NOW you know what I’m talking about. Yes, it’s the hands free law that comes into effect on July 1st.
On July 1st, drivers of 18 years of age and over are required to use a “hands free” device when conducting telephone calls while driving. Those caught conducting telephone calls without a hands free device will be fined $20 for the initial offence and $50 for subsequent convictions and the fine can be tripled with addition of penalty assessments. Drivers under the age of 18 will be prohibited from using a hands free device or a wireless phone while operating a motor vehicle. Although the fine isn’t too terribly hefty, after all, they do want to persuade you to stop driving while holding a cell phone, you may find that it’s not so easy to break away from taking that “oh so important” call while driving.

Here’s what you can do to ease yourself out of this. Check out Plantronics City (it’s very cool!) and learn more about the hands free law and what you can do to get yourself prepared and stay safe out on the roads. Oh, of course, check out all the cool Plantronics wireless headsets you can get for your phone. I have to agree, Plantronics makes great headsets.
Thanks to Carlos Mangandy for the reminder!

I totally agree with you on Plantronics making great headsets. The ones I have thus far have all served me well. Their fit, comfort and usability ranks highly with me.
And you can’t go wrong with a blueooth headset considering you could get a basic version for the price of one offense, a pretty good one if you’ve committed two offenses and a top of the line if you have been booked thrice. Any more than that and you’re just plain dumb for not getting one
If nothing else, it’s a slick little Flash site with cute easter eggs with day/night shifts. Clever marketing.
Hi
I think hands free is a good thing.
Easy to setup pairing of headset, for very little cost and most importantly proven to save lives.
