Boxwave Active Case

I couldn’t pass up the fantastic deal we posted a few days ago on the Tilt, so now it is time to get it protected (before it inevitably ends up scratched or deformed). I looked at quite a few candidates, and the one that jumped out at me was the Boxwave Active Case™. It looks like a great case if you want something that allows you to protect your device while at the same time giving you instant access to the slide and keyboard functions as well as all of the buttons and ports the device has. Can it live up to the expectations… stay tuned for the complete review.

Looking forward to the review! I especially wonder how safe the case will be in the long run, but I understand that that can’t be part of the review. Since this case has two seperate pieces, they will likely pop off when the case accidentaly falls on the ground. Also, if you’d take the device out of the case regularly, perhaps the way the case holds the device becomes more loose? I think that this would be the main risk with this kind of cases, as opposed to leather cases which are probably more safe in this field, but add more bulk to the device’s dimensions.

SPM, I reviewed this case for the Mogul at JAMM. What I found was that the grips are almost too tight holding the case on, making it difficult to remove. Anyway, this is not a case which is designed to be taken in and out. It is designed to be permanently attached.

Ok that’s good. Did you keep using it for a longer time? And if so, did it ever came of when you didn’t want it to?

Also, is the reset hole available? Because often on a leather case (well the few I used ;)) it isn’t, and that means that I do need to take the case off to reset if my device if it hangs.

But maybe the last question is better for Brian to answer when he writes the review. :)

looks like a non-rubberized version of the SEIDIO case.

spmwinkel,
It’s funny you bring up the popping off, because that was my biggest concern as well. It does look, in the picture, like there is a small cutout for the reset button, but I will verify that in the review for sure.

One other issue I am going to be giving close consideration is being able to get it off. I do like to switch between Pocket PC and SmarPhone depending on what I am doing so being able to access the Sim card is of some importance to me.

Oh! Yeah I see now, I didn’t even study the image closely. There defenitely is room for all the stuff in the bottom, they simply left it all open. What all images don’t really show is how the device is attached in the case, and I’m glad you’re also interested in that. :)

Yeah, I will leave it to Brian to give you the specifics and his impressions. I will say that it is very similar to the Seido case which I am currently using. :) And SPM, there are small tabs on the edges that grip around the edge of the phone.

I’m looking forward to your review. I’d especially like to know how much bulk the case adds to the Tilt. I put on the full body Invisible Shield when I bought my Tilt (about 2 weeks ago). It keeps the body and screen very protected from getting scratched by keys, etc. while in my pocket. It was a little bit of a pain to get the various pieces of the Invisible Shield into place but since I had used Invisible Shield products before I knew what to expect. So far it is working quite well. I’ll have to see how it hold up long term.
