Diamonds Boast Capacitive Surface

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This seems to be a rather disturbing trait of HTC: to include something good inside the device but not use it at all. Last year, it was the lack of video graphics drivers on the Tilt that caused the ‘mother-of-all-device’ to draw graphics even slower than an O2 Mini which was at least 3 years older. HTC has done it again, this time with capacitive touch screens on the Touch Diamonds (and I think the Pro version as well).

Using HTC’’s Debug Tool, you can actually test out the capacitive surface although there was no word from HTC about the such capabilities when it was announced. Why does HTC do this? Do they have something planned in a coming ROM update? Can it be used on the main screen as well? Either way, expect more applications from the folks at XDA Developers to do something about it. At least they didnt advertise the feature and then not use it

True but I would think that for a device that was going up against the iPhone, they would pull out all the stops.

Something wrong here.

The touchscreen (I mean the LCD panel) isn’t capacitive. It’s rather resistive and need some pressure to be triggered.

BTW, it is true the touchpanel on the underside is multitouch capable (and most probably of capacitive type).
This can be clearly on the video.
