Probably the most hotly anticipated Windows Mobile device is the Xperia X1, which is scheduled for release by Sony Ericsson sometime this fall.  It features both unique hardware, and a never-seen-before user interface for Windows Mobile.  Dietter Bohn over at WMExperts had the opportunity to play with one recently and gives his thoughts, as well as answers some readers’ questions.  So, what did Dieter think?

Let us tell you - the hardware is simply top notch. It’s a decent weight, not too heavy, and feels remarkably thin for all the power they’ve got under the hood. Sony Ericsson also made a good decision by making this phone not feel too “wide”, it’s less wide than a BlackJack II, in fact. Overall this might be the best hardware I’ve ever seen on a Windows Mobile device.

Pretty strong words…and that is just the introduction.  Check out the full review here, which includes full specs, answers to dozens of questions, and about a gazillion product photos (including the one above).

wow, seems like an awesome device!

I SO want to have a play with one of these! Finally, SonyEricsson have made a move towards a reasonable OS, so much better than their own.

I hate how they send out the preview pics and specs, but don’t let us consumers get out hands on it until Fall. I want to try it NOW.
