Free Remote Control App: MyMobiler

Found via Jason Langridge’s Weblog, this app called MyMobiler looks like a pretty cool remote control app that will enable you to view and control your mobile screen on your computer desktop using the computer keyboard and mouse. For those who come from the Palm OS, this type of program certainly isn’t free, but quite expensive. I remembered paying $29.95 for one. Although it worked, it was slow and from time to time, it would crash. Not sure about this one.
Here are some details:
MY MOBILER v1.23 (05/03/2008) - FREEWARE
* View your mobile screen on your desktop.
* Control your mobile by using desktop keyboard and mouse.
* Copy/Cut/Paste text between mobile and desktop.
* Capture mobile screen.
* Drag and drop files to your mobile.
* Support ActiveSync / IP Connection
* Support Mobile Explorer (File Browse)
It was also was a Finalist for the Windows Mobile Device Control category in Smartphone & PocketPC Magazine Best Software Awards 2007, so I guess it must be pretty good. Go check it out! Let us know what you think in the comments!

Yeah, it’s good. I used it before getting a copy of Soti Pocket Controller Pro. For basic PPC navigation on the desktop PC / notebook, it’s great.
What about VNC? It’s free and it works.
Sure, perhaps not that easy to set up but relatively painless.
Hm, spmwinkel…now where did you get that Pocket Controller?
One thing I wish My Mobilier did was allow the icon on the PPC end to be hidden if so desired, as Pocket Controller does. Kind of makes my screen caps problematic given my screen layout.
Must have been Aximsite!
Agreed, exactly the reason that reviewers use programs like My Mobiler, is to make screenshots. And when reviewing a program with a Today screen plugin, a tray bar icon is really annoying.
I’d love to have Soti Pocket Controller, but it’s too expensive for me when MyMobiler is such a great free alternative.
My Mobiler is a great program, and being free I have been using it for quite a while. my only issue is that for games which orient themselves in landscape it is problematic because My Mobiler doesn’t recognize that the screen has rotated, and when you try to manually rotate it the screen goes wonky, but the only issue is that you have to rotate the screen grabs.
BTW if you turn off the connection bar on the PPC you won’t get an icon at the bottom of the today screen.
Thanks for the comments, guys! I currently don’t have the use for such an app since I already have the keyboard on the Treo, which was really my main reason for such an app on the Palm Zire 71 which didn’t have the keyboard.
