Full Flash Coming To Windows Mobile

Flash 10 Well, what can I say but finally! It’s about time.

Sure there are a lot of developers who are creating new applications for the Android and iPhone platform that it can feel a bit lonely here in the Windows Mobile arena but with this latest piece of news from Adobe, everything is about to change.

With full Flash support on a mobile device, you will now be able to surf the web in all it’s full glory and do just about anything you can do on a desktop or laptop, right on your Windows Mobile device.

Take the case of Chuong Nguyen of pocketnow.com who lamented that Flash Lite 3.1 (which is the most current version of Flash you can get on Windows Mobile right now), is just not relevant because it does not fully support all Flash-based websites.

With Flash 10, not only will he able to watch all those YouTube videos from his Opera 0.5 browser, he’ll also be able to use his GrandCentral account and watch videos from New York Times. How’s that for making the web more accessible from your hand?

Cloud computing Also, when you consider that most of us a lot of our time online on the web, this would extend the power of any platform by many folds. There are already many users who have started to adopt cloud computing and very soon, you would be able to do even more mobile cloud computing (is there even such a term for it?)

Think of it: why would you want to use the built-in Word Mobile editor when you could access Google Documents? Why would I want to download TV Guide’s application when I can just bookmark the TV schedule page that has been customized for me? Granted that there are times when you may need to do things offline, but considering how connected we are becoming, just how often is that?

In the end, our Windows Mobile devices will become even more useful than they currently are. It’s slated to be shipped with devices in late 2009 but considering that it will be showcased tomorrow at Adobe Max, on a current Windows Mobile device no less, it might just come sooner than we expect.

Are you just as excited about Flash 10 coming to Windows Mobile as I am?
