Google Maps: The Map For Pedestrians
There are many navigational software out there but they do not focus on pedestrians. There are millions of us around the world who still take a bus or train to get from one destination to another and thanks to Google, we’ll soon be able to do it more effectively.
You see, Google has teamed up with public transportation agencies to get your directions while you’re out and about in more than 50 cities around the world. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find the list. Just how great is this new feature in Google Maps? Here’s a video to show you just:
Pretty impressive eh? You could use it the next time you are in a foreign city or country. No more having to look it up on the internet because Google does it all for you. It even shows you where the bus stop is, the cost of fare and what time the your train will arrive. How cool is that?
The bad news is that it’s currently only available for BlackBerry and Java-based phones but they’re planing support for Windows Mobile and other mobile phones shortly. So stay tuned! (via Google Blog)

Too bad they didn’t hook up with the guys who produce Metro, the freeware application that gives you public transportation schedules for what seems like millions of cities around the world.
Oh yeah Metro is really awesome and I use it from time to time as well. Maybe we can suggest it to Google to incorporate it.
