HTC To Make Palm Treo Pro

HTC_LogoI knew something was interesting when it was revealed that the Palm Treo Pro would be using the HTC Task Manager feature. It turns out that HTC is the ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) for the Palm Treo Pro. In my opinion, this is a huge win for Palm and anyone that buys a Treo Pro. This will likely mean that the developer community over at xda-developers will support the Treo Pro, which will add a lot of value for the power users that are interested in the phone. According to DigiTimes:

HTC’s experience manufacturing Windows Mobile-based smartphones is the main reason Palm selected the company to manufacture the smartphone for it, even thought they are competitors in the market. The smartphone is expected to launched in September this year.

While Palm chose HTC for the ODM on the Treo Pro, Inventec Applications is still Palm’s largest ODM partner.

Palm has stated that the Treo Pro was designed to be a power-user device and I think having it made by HTC will make this a device that all users will enjoy. I really respect Palm for this decision and I cannot wait to get my hands on one once it lands in the US.
