HTC’s Raphael & Diamond’s Specs

First, there was the spy shot of upcoming HTC phones and when I thought that that was it until May 6, more info surfaced as to the identity of the new phones and where they’re heading.
That was great news and I thought that would be it until the anticipated date but it seems that there’s even more information and this time, it’s the specifications of HTC Raphael and HTC Diamond which are slated to be part of Sprint’s new lineup.
So what’s running the devices you ask? Well prepare to be amazed:
- Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
- Qualcomm MSM 7201A 520MHz CPU
- 256MB ROM
- 128MB RAM
- 7.2MB HSDPA/HSUPA (Rev A for Sprint versions)
- 2.8″ VGA Screen
- WiFi
- Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
- eGPS
- 3.1MP With Flash
- Forward Facing Camera (for video calls I presume)
- 4GB Internal Flash Storage (Diamond only)
- TV Out (Raphael only)
- Orientation Sensor (just like the iPhone)
- FM Radio
- MicroSD Expansion
- 900mAh Battery
Looks good doesn’t it? Save for the battery which is rated at 900mAh which is going to cut down the standby time quite significantly. Or maybe there’s better technology on board to keep it running longer? We’ll have to wait and see. (via MoDaCo)

That Raphael looks sweet. I wonder if 900 mAh is a typo?? Most HTC devices are 1500-2000, so maybe that is supposed to be 1900 mAh?? Just idle speculation on my part.

I think most Pocket PCs run at least 1500mAh so I am hoping that it’s a typo. Otherwise, be prepared to carry a spare battery around.
Exactly. I have to think it is a typo. Or some crazy new technology.

If I can get a VGA screen, I’ll carry 6 batteries if I have to!
These phones look amazing! I’m slightly annoyed because I just (a month ago) picked up an Eten X500+. All the annoyances I have with the X500+ are fixed in this phone. Then again I got a great deal for the phone ($275) and its unlocked so I can change whenever I want!
That is a good deal. I’ve had my X500+ for a few months now. All I can say is that you should go to this forum and upgrade to WM6.1 ROM from Kva.

It takes out all the junk that Eten loads in the ROM and runs much faster and more responsive than before. Now I love my device (until these next-gen devices are released!)

sounds great but wats with the battery. ive been researchin and they all say 900mAh. wats that all mean anyways. wat r the prices for raphael and diamond??
900mAh can be considered pretty small considering that the average battery for a Pocket PC is rated at 1200mAh. As for the prices, my guess is as good as yours. No word yet and with carriers subsidizing phones, it could be pretty reasonable.
Actually, I think you are underestimating the average there. It is probably closer to 1500, with some batteries coming in as high as 2000 (though I can’t confirm that).
Doug
Good point there Doug. I assumed it was 1500mAh as well but thought that might be a bit on the high side. I wonder which device has 2000mAh. Are you talking about the standard batteries that came with the device or extended versions?
ok thanx still researchin. do you know any dates on opening of HTC’s new set and do you guys think its worthy of buying?
Abe, From what I here the Diamond supposed to start rolling out this summer, but there is not much on price. No word on Raphael. I have not tried these phones, but I hear they are pretty nice. Memory and Battery seem to be the big complaints.
Doug
Well there’s this on pre-ordering the Diamond:

That’s pretty steep for a WM phone, especially when you consider that the iPhone is rumored to be selling for $199.
thanx guys. still deciding to buy, but might be a little out of my budget. other sprint phones look worthy, but this is just an awsome phone. just keep things posted, thanx.
Yeah, I think the 2000 mAh battery may have been on an older non-converged device. I honestly don’t know whether it was standard or not. I can tell you my Axim had a battery that was nearly 3000mAh (not standard) and there were days that was barely adequate.
