If Batman Carried A Pocket PC, He’d Have A Nite Ize Clip Case Plus
Nite Ize is a company that prides themselves in creating innovative products and they definitely live up to their tagline. From flashlight accessories to hardware accessories and even L.E.D. accessories for pet products, they have a long list of products that would serve a lot of your needs. If one of those needs is how you carry your Pocket PC, then you’ll want to check out their Nite Ize Clip Case Plus.
Introduction
As you can probably tell from the title, this is no ordinary case for your device. It does what you need it to and a lot more. At about $15 (it depends on where you get it from and there are quite a number of retailers out there carrying it), it is pretty comparable in terms of price to many of the cases out there for a Pocket PC or PDA. But that’s where the comparison end. The Clip Case Plus carries more than just your phone as you will see.
Compartments
If there’s one to describe Clip Case Plus it would be compartments. I have never seen so many compartments in a case before and I am not sure if I would ever again. And these compartments were not just thrown in as a selling point. They do serve their purpose and in some cases, you wonder why more case manufacturers don’t have them. So let’s take a look at them shall we?
Smartphone / PDA
There are 3 sizes for the Clip Case model lineup and while I have all 3, the one in this review is actually the one that was meant for the smartphone. However, there are 2 other sizes, Small and Large which you see from the picture above.
The only difference between these 3 is the size: Smartphone being the largest and Small being the smallest. However, just because you’re using a Pocket PC does not mean you should use the Smartphone size (as I had initially thought).
As you can see from the picture, putting my ETEN Glofiish X500 into the Smartphone version of the case left me with quite a bit of space. It was more of a nicely loose fit. The Large version would have provided a better fit if I had wanted a more snug fit but the Smartphone version fit me just fine.
Bluetooth Headset / Tooth Ferry
While I love my Bluetooth headsets, there are times when I just want to take it off. Unfortunately, most of the headsets I have (including some high-end ones) do not come with a carrying case. So I’m left with having to put them into my pocket together with whatever is in there like change and keys. Not exactly something I prefer.
With the Clip Case Plus, you’ll no longer be in that dilemma. It’s got a Tooth Ferry component which is universal bluetooth headset holder. Simply put, it’s an elastic band that has a pull loop that allows you to easily place or remove your headset. Pretty nifty eh?
But do be careful when using the Tooth Ferry. I found that out the hard way when I used it with my BlueAnt Z9i headset. As it has a removable ear piece, that somehow got loose while there and resulted in me losing it. So if you do want to use the Tooth Ferry, I’d recommend you using it with a headset that does not have a removable earpiece.
Pen
Due to it’s rather large size, you can probably guess that the case hold a lot more than just your phone and headset. It’s got a built in pen holder as well at the corner. I really like that because it makes it a lot more convenient for me to carry my pen around and have access to it.
Cards
Don’t stop at pens because it also has some slots for cards as well. Be it credit cards or business cards or even slips of paper, you can place them all in the slot. For users who are low on pockets like me when I go out sometimes, having an extra pocket in the Clip Case Plus has really proved useful.
Flashlight
Now I am not sure why Nite Ize would want to include a flash light holder on the opposite of the Tooth Fairy but I guess it will be useful to some individuals. Thing is, how many individuals would actually be using?
I think a flash light is useful and really handy to have but I am not going to bring one out with me when I go out unless I am going camping or to a dark area where it would prove useful. Other than that, I don’t see why I’d be using it.
That does not make that compartment useless though. You can put anything cylindrical there if you want such as another pen. Let your creativity run wild on this one and you’ll definitely find a use for it.
Everything In
So how does the Clip Case Plus look like with everything loaded up? Here’s how:
Not too shabby I must say. Some might call it bulky but then again, that’s a lot of things that I am carrying in such a handy case that I do not really mind. If you’ve been looking for a case that can carry your Pocket PC and then a few more, be sure to check out Clip Case Plus.
Clip
But before you do, let me show you the clip which I really like. For one, it’s very durable and gives you the feeling that it’ll hold what you put into it (whether your pants does is another issue altogether). Anyway, back to the clip…
As I was saying, the clip exudes durability but that’s just why I love it. It allows you to easily remove it from the belt thanks to the easy-off finger tab. It’s also got a curved bottom that will hook around any strap. That’s right I said strap because I am sure there are users out there who are wondering if they can clip this to their back packs or messenger bags and the answer is yes. The clip is large enough to accommodate an average size strap.
One last thing to point out about the clip is that it rotates. All 360 degrees in increments of 90 degrees. So depends on how you like to holster your case (right side up or to the left/right or even upside down), you can do just that. Coupled with the fact that the various compartments are sealed or elastic and you know that your items are securely in place.
Built
What about built you ask? Well I was pleased with it. It’s got a strong built, not just for the clip for the case as well. While it’s not water-proof (so you don’t want to run in the rain with it), it can definitely absorb some impact should you be un fortunate enough to drop it. The material itself is also very strong and should last you a long time
What I Like About It
- A lot of compartments.
- Items are held in place either by a velcro cover or elastic bands so you know they are secured.
- Clip is strong and useful (easy-off finger tab and rotates 360 degrees).
- Strong built with good material that is able to absorb some shock when dropped.
- Relatively huge capacity (for a case)
What Could Be Improved
- Can look rather bulky when loaded
- Tooth Ferry is not really recommended for headsets with removable earpiece.
- Have a placement for karabiner.
Conclusion
The Clip Case Plus is a really useful case to have, whether you’re one who works in the office or out in the field. It’s even useful for students and those who carry backpacks thanks to the clip which you can attach to just about any strap.
I really like what Nite Ize has done with the Clip Case Plus. They’ve taken something that we don’t really think too much about and made it something a lot more useful and one we could really use. They’ve even priced it attractively so if you’re in the market for a case, this is something you’ll want to consider. Add to the fact that it’s a universal case and strong built quality, this is one case that you can use for a long time to come.

Great review Tariq. Has me watering at the mouth. And at that price, its affordable enough to replace the slide case that I have. Cheers for the info, I shall go and have a look at the website real soon!
You’re welcome Martyn
I fell in love with the case the first time I saw it and the price definitely helped it
Thanks, great find, as you say, especially at the price.
Here’s a sizing chart from one of their retailer’s sites. Though it’s hardly complete (e.g., no Palm Treos), they give you the dimensions of the devices they list, so you can find a device with comparable dimensions and see what they recommend:

Is there any retailer that mails to Europe? Bloody long list of retailers and to be honest, I am too lazy to go through them all
With the exchange rate the way it is at the moment I can get this almost for free!! In fact, I think they´ll need to send me money to take it!! LOL! I WANT ONE!!
Cheers for the heads up Tariq, I would be tapping in the dark other-wise. But just one point… I have the Jabra BT620s bluetooth headset. Will the ToothFairy take that too?
I am not too sure Martyn. I’ll check with the company and see if there are any.
As for your BT620, it would not fit the Clip Case Plus because it’s too large. It’ll fit other normal mono Bluetooth headset though.
I must say that it is pretty cool. Almost reminds me of the Piel Farma cases that had various slots for your PDA. The only issue I take with the case is that its hideous. I much more prefer to the sleep black leather style, but I know that is just my personal opinion.
I just bought a Nite Ize for my new SmartPhone based on the Nite Ize I had for my old phone. The case looked pretty worn out after almost 3 years of constant wear but still worked great. I like the fact I can also carry a pen, cards, etc. I highly, highly recommend it.
