Is The XPERIA X1 Missing A Band Or Two?

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

That’s what this image seems to suggest:

SonyEricsson's XPERIA X1's bands

I got that off CellPhone signal where they found out that the XPERIA X1 just reached the FCC and it’s got AT&T-friendly 3G bands. What’s even more interesting is that the X1 only has 3 UMTS bands instead of the 5 I initially thought.

This has seriously put a damper on my plans to get one because I’m on T-Mobile USA network and one of their 3G bands are not supported (the 1700MHz). Does anyone know if they X1 will come with all 5 UMTS bands or has it been cut to region specific? Sound off in the comments below.

Update: Engadget has also noticed this but they’re expecting that 5-band-UMTS X1 we’ve all heard about so there’s nothing to worry about for all us T-Mobile USA users.

I contacted Sony Ericsson after the FCC report & they TOO say not to worry & that there will be an X1 that supports the 1700MHz band. OK, we shall see as I too am on T-mob & will NOT buy one unless it is supported!

Thanks for the heads up Ty. Did they tell you if that version will have all 5 UMTS bands of just 3 at most?

OK, there will be NO 1700Mhz capability. They are modifying their specs page. :(

That seems to be the case. Sad, sad indeed :(
