Even though this is a Windows Mobile site, we recognize that our readers are well rounded, and have a viariety of interests. As such, sometimes, we find stories which are not directly related to Windows Mobile, but might be of interest to you generally. One such story is the latest from LapWorks, the Painted Futura Lapdesk.

I first encountered LapWorks last year, when I had the opportunity to review a few of their laptop desks and stands for Just Another Mobile Monday, including the Futura. At that time, the Futura was gray with black accents. Functional, but utilitarian and not very exciting.
Today, LapWorks announced (at long last) the availability of their painted Futura LapDesks. These fantastic laptop desks now come in a variety of colors, which are printed, using a specialized UV ink-jet printer that applies a heavy coat of industrial-grade ink that hardens when exposed to UV light.
You can check out all of the new colors here:

Additionally, for the rest of 2008, LapWorks will be allowing you to choose what colors should come next. Just head over to their voting page: http://www.laptopdesk.net/painted/vote_painted_futura.php, and cast your vote for the next color.

The painted Futura will be available for $49.95, while the standard gunmetal gray version will remain only $29.95. So, head on over and pick out yours today. I chose the red marble. What colors do you like?

Those are some great design. I was reading your review of it on JAMM and the fact that it is too narrow in desktop mode made me reconsider it. Though it would definitely be nice for those long train rides.
If you have a smaller laptop then it would work fine in desktop mode. The problem is that a lot of their products are really designed fro a 13 inch laptop. I havbe a 15.4 inch which means they do not support things well on the desktop. In laptop mode, though, it works great on the train.
I use it every day. I keep hoping they wil lcome out with a desktop solution for my 15.4 inch laptop, but no luck so far.
