Launch Giveaway 6: Results and Winners
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Time to do things a little bit differently (what can I say, we just like to shake things up). For launch contest six, we asked you for some suggestions for reviews. What would you like to see us do? And the responses were loud and clear. Here are my thoughts on some of your suggestions. And once we get through that…maybe we’ll have a few winners as well.
- Overwhelmingly, the most requested item was a head-to-head or roundup style review, in which we look at a number of similar programs or accessories together. You all could not agree on the topic you would like to see (backup programs, media players, PIMs, GPS maps, SIPs…) but you soundly agreed that this is a format you would like to see. And all I will say for now is that we hear you loud and clear. More to come soon.
- Some of you asked us to check out Hymini and do some reviews of their eco-friendly chargers. You asked for it…you got it. I spoke with them today, and the batteries are on their way. Donghoon and I will be doing those reviews soon enough.

- You asked for a lot more device specific reviews: touch controls, VGA, Smartphone, etc… Unfortunately, as Tariq mentioned earlier, our hands are a bit tied on this one. We have somewhat limited access to devices right now. All of us currently use Windows Mobile 5 or higher Pocket PC phones (with touchscreens). As we are able to add to our collection of devices, we will bring them to you. That being said, we do always list what environment we used for testing and what other operating systems will work.
- You asked for a better balance between games and utilities. And I agree. Speaking for myself, my reviews have been very game heavy. There is no particular reason for this, aside from a number of games were released at the same time. We have plenty of other software and accessories in our queues and will do a better job of balancing the reviews in the future.
- You asked for comparisons of free programs to their commercial counterparts. This is something I have given a
lot of thought to personally. While we will be bringing you a lot of information about free software (The Arcade roundup of free games and Tariq’s Free Windows Mobile Software roundup), I simply do not feel it is fair to the freeware developers to compare them to their paid counterparts. Most commercial software developers have more resources at their disposal and, quite frankly, we prefer to encourage the freeware developers. So, while I am not saying we will never do it, and while we will highlight plenty of free software, we will not be providing a lot of direct comparisons between free and commercial software.
OK. That is not everything, but it covers some of the general highlights. And I can see you are getting anxious for some winners, so let’s go ahead and do some picking.
