Well, this is the end of the launch giveaway. Before we get to the winners, I have a few announcements to pass on to you. To everyone who won so far, please do not be concerned that you have not received your prizes yet. I will be starting to contact developers this weekend and you should start receiving them next week. Also, any prizes which were not claimed will be given away in a Second Chance Drawing to be held over the weekend. Watch for details on that tomorrow.
OK. On to today’s contest. Since this one was not random, I asked the team to help me judge the entries (and we got some good ones). Most of the members of our team chose their top three stories. A first place finish earned three points, two for second, and one for third. I then tallied it all up and arrived at three winners.
Rather than just tell you who won, I thought we would reenact the winning entry. Since the winning entry did not have a lot of flair, however, we have hired a semi-amateur writer to step in and help out rewriting it. Here is the rewritten winning entry:
It was a dark and stormy night [Ed. Note: We have no idea what the weather or time of day actually was]. I was sitting alone by the fire when a shot rang out…no, wait…no shot…the sound I heard was the ringing of a telephone. It sounded a shrill note, then another, and a third before my quivering hand reached the cradle. Holding the phone
to my ear with some trepidation, I answered.
“Hello?”
It was her. Who is she? you may ask. And that I could not answer. We had only spoken on the phone…the result of an unfortunate wrong number con wonderfully correct. I eased myself back into my chair, smiling at the sound of her voice. Hanging up, after what seemed to be only a moment, I was shocked when I glanced at the clock to find several hours had passed.
This evening ritual continued for some time, eventually leading from the telephone to emails and instant messenger (only a slight moment of terror when we realized that I used Gmail chat and she used AOL. A quick online form remedied this and we were ready to go.
After some time, we knew it was time to meet. This thought exhilarated, yet simultaneously terrified me. What if she was beautiful? What if she was not? did it matter? We continued these ritual telephone calls and computer conversations for several more days, ever planning the perfect opportunity to meet. I clad in white upon my trusted steed, and she in a flowing gown, ready to be scooped up in my arms.
“What are you doing right now?” The message on my Dell Axim x50v chimed.
“Sitting in a coffee shop sipping a cup,” I typed back hurriedly.
“How funny,” she responded so am I. “What shop are in?”
Despite my annoyance that she ended her question in a prepo
sition, I responded with the name and location.
The response I received stunned me. I stared at the three words on my Axim screen for what must have been five minutes.
The message read simply, “SO AM I.”
Trying to catch my breath, I slowly glanced around the shop. And then I saw her, it had to be her. Our eyes locked over the top of her laptop monitor, and then I saw it. She smiled with her eyes, and I was hooked. We’ve been together ever since.
That winning entry was sent to us by Ran Mor. And let’s take a look at what he won: Gomadic Quadcharger Universal Charging Station plus four TipExchange charging tips, Any program from SBSH, $60 gift certificate to Spb Software House, iWindows Mobile SMS Chat and any program in Vito’s main catalog, Wizcode Bundle (includes Pocket Alarm, Pocket Hack Master, Pocket Mechanic Professional and Virtual Explorer), One PDAMill Game (Winner’s Choice).
Our second place finisher was Brian Campo and his wife who refused to use Windows Mobile, choosing instead to go back to the original plan of a Motorola RAZR (sorry, Brian). Brian, you win: Any program from SBSH, Wizcode Bundle (includes Pocket Alarm, Pocket Hack Master, Pocket Mechanic Professional and Virtual Explorer), One PDAMill Game (Winner’s Choice), Your Choice of any Game from SmartBox Design (Farkle, WordPop, or Word Monaco) , $50 gift certificate to Boxwave, Sound ID SM100 BT headset.
Finally, our third place winner was Ragart, who used his Dell Axim to protect him from a rain soaked outing in Germany. Ragart, you win: Any program from SBSH, Wizcode Bundle (includes Pocket Alarm, Pocket Hack Master, Pocket Mechanic Professional and Virtual Explorer), Any case from Prima Cases, Iambic Prize Bundle (includes Agendus, Health and Diet Manager, Vehicle Manager, Googhelper), Solio Solar Charger, Teksoft Bundle (includes SmartBar, BlueMusic, and any two programs of your choice).
As I mentioned, however, voting was so close, it was extremely difficult to select winners. Parelle and Cathy both had fantastic stories which both fell just short in voting of our third place winner. You both receive an Honorable Mention Award. You each may choose any PDAMill Game.
Congratulations to all of our winners. We received some fantastic stories in this contest. You all did not make it easy to pick just three. Maybe sometimes soon we will reprint all of the fantastic entries we received. As always, we had some fantastic sponsors, and I really appreciate all of the wonderful prizes which they donated. For those of you who did not win, watch out for our second chance drawing coming very soon. We still have a number of unclaimed prizes to give away!

Congrats to the winners of course!
Well deserved.
And because I shouldn’t reply on the other post, I want to use this comment to wish everyone who missed a prize pack the first time, a lot of good luck in the second chance giveaway!
Thank you so much!
and congrats to the other winners.
Please tell your writer that he has done a great job - it was so funny for me to read his version.
Good luck to everybody in the following and last contest!
Ran, you will have to send us a picture of you and your girlfriend. Otherwise, I will have to assume she is the girl in the stock picture I used
Doug
Congrats all.
Thanx all for the great contests and the awesome prizes… I will make sure the wife doesn’t get to use them, since she is still on the, soon to be derailed, Moto train.
Ran, that was a great story, and Ragart you definitely nailed the big reasons why most of us love our WinMo gadgets.
P.s. if Ran doesn’t claim the girl in the picture as his girlfriend I will claim her as my wife for my story
Maybe she’s very ugly on the right side, and maybe her feet smell!

Also better not let your wife read this!
Thank you! Excellent stories all around
