Raphael Debuts As HTC Touch Pro

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Remember that spy shot from some weeks back? Then, it was mentioned that among the unknown devices were the HTC Diamond and HTC Raphael. Come May 6th, the world was introduced to the HTC Diamond but all was quiet on the Raphael. Until now.

HTC Touch Pro

What was known as the HTC Raphael will be sold as the HTC Touch Pro (I would have preferred they kept Raphael instead). Unlike what many believe, it’s not a carbon copy of the Diamond with the addition of the keyboard. Instead, it’s got some really cool hardware such as:

  • Size: 102 x 51 x 18.05mm
  • Weight: 165g
  • Connectivity: WCDMA / HSPA: 900/2100MHz. HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA
  • Operating system: Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional
  • Display: 2.8-inch VGA touch screen
  • Camera: 3.2MP, with video calling
  • Internal memory: 512 MB flash, 288 MB RAM
  • Expansion Slot: microSD™ memory card (SD 2.0 compatible)
  • Keyboard: Slide-out 5 row QWERTY keyboard
  • Bluetooth: 2.0 with EDR
  • Wireless: WiFi 802.11b/g
  • GPS: GPS/AGPS
  • Interface: HTC ExtUSBä (mini-USB and audio jack in one; USB 2.0 High-Speed)
  • Battery: 1350 mAh
  • Talk time: GSM: up to 8 hours
  • Standby time: GSM: up to two-weeks
  • Chipset: Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528MHz

Did I mention that it’s even got TV-out capability so you could easily do your PowerPoint presentation (among other things) straight from the Touch Pro? Coupled with that huge amount of RAM (which I think is the largest I have seen on a Windows Mobile device), this is going to be one great and snappy device.

By the way, in case you’re wondering why I highlighted some specs in red, that’s because those are the good ones wouldn’t you agree?.

When Can I Get One?

That depends on where you live. European, Asian and Middle East customers can expect to purchase one by late summer while North and Latin American versions are set to debut later on. Which makes me assume that the Touch Pro will only be available in GSM tri-band versions (say it isn’t so HTC).

So who’s getting one?

I want one of these, It’s abou time they started amping up the RAM, and connectivity

I couldn’t agree more. I wished it was quad-band GSM thought but it seems that HTC has gone back to their triband days. Hopefully I’m wrong.

But kudos to the 288MB of RAM. That is huge :D
