Resco Backup Updated to V1.11

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

resco-logo On the same day that I publish a review of Resco Backup 1.10, Resco decides to release an updated version 1.11. I highly doubt it was because they read my article and immediately got to work on it but it would be nice to think of it that way. So what does v1.11 change?

Changes

  • Critical: It is possible to restore e-mails within full restore (previous version needed a rather complicated procedure)
  • New option not to use encryption for known files (e.g. exe, dll). Gain on speed, plus (theoretically) increased safety.
  • Improved treatment of the password changes
  • Restore after a hard reset does not check the registration

Fixes

  • Power off after reset (if set up in the settings) could switch off the PDA too early leaving it in incorrect state
  • AXIM: Painting errors
  • Keyboard button visible in the password dialog
  • Better treatment of inaccessible files/folders

Some really useful additions and fixes I must say. Sadly, there is still no auto reset after backup in this version. Wonder when it will be added? (via Resco Backup History

I have been using Resco since beta 1.0 and you *can* have an automatic soft reset. Just select to stop all running programs before backup and Resco will reset after the backup completes (in order to restart all programs)

I do select the Stop all running program options because this is the most effective way to backup but after the backup, there is no auto-reset. Emailed Resco and they acknowledged this problem so I am not sure how you can get an automatic reset. But since it works for you, that’s great :D

I think the auto reset not working on all devices goes back to what I think was small number of beta testers. I don’t recall anybody bringing up anything that Resco did not address before their release. So far they seem to be reacting to buglets pretty well.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

I guess that could be it. And it is really comforting to know that Resco is actively working to address these issues. I hope it happens soon enough though.
