So we first heard about the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 back in March. It was a great looking piece of hardware with a some very interesting software. Unfortunately, the only thing that didn’t please us was the release date. In fact, Sony Ericsson claimed that it would be shipping in the later half of the year which was just too long in terms of technology time.
As time went by, the predictions started to get even more specific. In fact, on May 2nd, we reported that Handango claimed that the XPERIA X1 would be released somewhere in mid-September. Well it’s now August 14th and we have a more specific date for you.
According to Expansys UK, they’re claiming that devices ordered through them will be available for delivery by the 41st week of 2008 which puts that in the October 6 to 12 region. They also claim to have received some demo units as well just to show how close to launch it really is.
Here’s the real kicker though. If you thought the Touch Pro’s price of US$1000 was a downer, expect to pay around US$1100 for the XPERIA X1. Ouch!!!
Would the XPERIA X1 sink or swim considering that the HTC Raphael (Touch Pro) should be shipping before it and has some very impressive specs to go against the X1?
Would you be going for the X1 or the Raphael? Let us know about it in the comments below. (via Register Hardware)

Whichever one hits AT&T first
Hopefully T-Mobile will bring the Pro in. Wouldn’t complain if they did with the X1 too
I’ve waited too long for the Sony Xperia and the HTC Raphael to come out in the market. Both devices have sensational Displays but lack the Memory to store and run programs, pictures, videos and music. So I decided to purchase the Samsung Omnia. The device has everything I dreamed- sensational Today Screen, 16gb of on-board Ram + micro-sd expandable, 624 mhz processor, 5 mp camera (a real camera!) and gps. And has few bugs than HTC Diamond!
