SoftMaker Office 2008: TextMaker If you are editing your office documents on your Pocket PC, you might have heard of SoftMaker Office and if you have yet to, I’d suggest you give it a go.

About a month back, I mentioned that SoftMaker Office was having a public beta testing and that you should grab your free copy so that you could really see what it was all about at no cost.

Well that public beta is about to come to an end soon because SoftMaker just released Office 2008 in final beta. What this means is that after this version, it would most probably be a commercial release.

If you have always wanted to give SoftMaker Office a go, this would be a good time to get a free copy for yourself before it’s too late.

SoftMaker Office 2008: PlanMaker For users of previous versions wondering if this latest release is worth the upgrade, here are some the changes made:

  • All known problems related to entering accented characters on keyboard-based devices are fixed.
  • The Backspace key now works on all systems.
  • Message boxes that were wider than the Pocket PC display are now wrapped correctly.
  • TextMaker, PlanMaker: Full-screen editing mode implemented.
  • SoftMaker Presentations: Inserting graphics does not causes crashes anymore.
  • SoftMaker Presentations: Slide shows can now be run in a true full-screen
    mode.

If you have been using the public beta or plan to, be sure to let the developer know of any problems you are facing. That’s what these public betas are for anyway. For those wondering, here’s the download link.
