SoundID Prepares to Release Their Sophomore Effort: the HD300 Bluetooth Headset
What do you get when you cross a noted Otologist (ear specialist) with top scientists and engineers in psychoacoustics, product design and software development? Well, the first time around, it resulted in one of the best Bluetooth headsets I have ever used, the SoundID SM100. And now, they are at it again. SoundID announced today their upcoming follow up to the popular SM100, the HD 300 Bluetooth headset.
The HD 300 features:
- NoiseNavigation – A proprietary development, NoiseNavigation optimizes speech intelligibility at both ends of the conversation, as dual microphones isolate speech and DSP algorithms automatically reduce wind and background nose.
- PersonalSound™ – HD300 users can choose from three listening modes – tuned to the most common hearing preferences – further enhancing speech clarity without raising the volume.
- Automatic Volume Control – This feature eliminates the need for constant volume adjustment in variable noise situations such as driving.
Sound ID also plans to offer a free download which will enable users to control the headset via their mobile phone. The application includes a sound level meter to monitor surrounding noise levels, volume control and a battery life indicator, among other features.
The Sound ID HD300 is expected to be available in Q3 2008 for $119.99. It will come with a Universal AC charger (100-240 VAC), three sizes of RealComfort EarLoops and an Ear Hook for an alternative over-the-ear wearing option.

This sounds like a technological advance that I might replace my original Palm bluetooth headset with. Thank you for the information.
Yeah, I reviewed their original headset over at Gear Diary (I think that review was lost in their server crash
The SM100 is still one of my favorite headsets. I can’t wait to check out the new HD300. Hopefully, we will have a review for you in the coming months.

Looks like a nice device but I am kind of skeptical with auto volume control because the Jawbone has that too but it was not that great in the auto volume department when it came to loud environments.
I counted up with a friend the other day. I have been through 10 BT headsets beginning with the Jabra BT 250 and ending with the Jawbone. My eleventh is the SM100. And, for me, the SM100 is the best all-round headset I have used.
I can’t wait for the HD300.
Tariq, SoundID is a much nicer unit than Jawbone. Much nicer.
Richard, I completely agree with you. I have been through about the same number of BT headsets and headphones. Nothing compared to the SM100. My only criticism was that I had a lot of trouble getting it to stay in my ear and never got the promised ear loop. Hopefully, I will not have that problem with the new one.

I tried the sound ID, but i like my new Jawbone much better. Other then the fact that the Jawbone looks better and fits better, the quality of my calls is also much better. I’ve used the Jawbone in the noisiest situations, and i never have a problem hearing, or being heard.
