There Is No Zune Phone
But that’s not the end of it. Apparently Microsoft does have plans to port the Zune software into other platforms such as PC, XBOX and, get this, Windows Mobile. Don’t believe me? Check this out:
At the end of the day, one of the big trends is that all content is going digital. And if we don’t have the software and services that are useful, helpful and valuable for the consumption of music and video, we are sort of not really a player.
Now, we built the Zune hardware with the Zune software – and what you’ll see more and more over time is that the Zune software will also be ported to and be more important not just with the hardware but on the PC, on Windows Mobile devices, etc.
Those exact words came out Microsoft’s Ballmer’s mouth himself so we know that there is definitely something in the work.

I don’t have a Zune player nor have I played with one but I have heard good things about it so for Microsoft to port this over to WM and replace the default Windows Media Player on the OS is definitely a good idea. Like what Ballmer mentioned, we’re using our devices a lot more for media right now and WMP just doesn’t cut it anymore.
As for when we will be seeing it on Windows Mobile, I’m hoping to see it by WM7.
