HTC Supports Children’s Cancer Foundation

HTC Auction

It’s not very often that I hear HTC doing something good for the community, so when something like this comes around, it is really heart-warming. HTC has teamed up with Nic Wong of Nicholas to offer 4 very unique phones on eBay Singapore. True to the definition, there will only be one of each each design available in the world. Auctions started at 12pm on April 10th 2008 and will run till April 19th 2008 around 9pm Singapore time. Translated, that’s around 9am Eastern Time. Proceeds from the auctions will go to Children Cancer Foundation. It’s all for a good cause so if you have cash to spare, I would highly recommend you take part in it. Head over here to check out the auctions. (via PPCSG)

What’s Happening On May 6th?

HTC Invite HTC has sent out invites for May 6th and it’s anyone’s guess as to what they have planned for it. Whatever it is, we do know that HTC would notdo something like this if it was not big. So I’m guessing it’s the announcement of their new Android phone. They did say that they will announce it in mid-2008 and while May does not technically count as mid-2008, it is close enough. I highly doubt it’s going to be just another boring announcement of new Windows Mobile device. They do that every year anyway without as much fanfare as this. (via Just Another Mobile Monday)

Video Preview Of The Upcoming Pocket Internet Explorer

Pocket Internet Explorer It’s no doubt that the current version of Pocket Internet Explorer is the worse you could find for a Windows Mobile device so it’s a relief to know that Microsoft is hard at work on improving it. Just how good (I dare not use the word great for now) is it? Well check out this video and see for yourself. Nothing like the iPhone kind of browsing but who knows, it’s not the final version so changes could still be made. (via Brighthand)

OmegaOne’s 1-ToGo

OmegaOne 1-ToGo It’s pretty hard to describe what OmegaOne’s latest offering, 1-ToGo, is. For one, it looks like an RSS reader. Then it does weather. Add email and instant messaging to the mix as well and we’re still not done yet. No kidding. It’s still in beta so that means you can sign up now and get 3 months free. Just point your browser here. But hurry, because it’s limited to the first 1000 beta users though. What’s interesting is that unlike most Windows Mobile software out there, this one goes by a subscription. That’s $19.99 per year. Worth it? You decide. If you are interested to find out more, check this out. (via 4WinMobile)

Follow The Path Of The Olympic Torch

Beihing Olympics 2008 It’s been getting a lot of protestors so far on it’s route to China for the Olympics but that does not mean it’s going to stop. It started it’s journey from Olympia, Greece on March 24th 2008 and will end up in Beijing on August 6th 2008 in time for the games. The whole journey will take 130 days and cover over 85 000 miles. That’s a whole lot of traveling in a short time. It’s currently in South America but if you want to know exactly where, Google has created a special link that allows you to track it in Google Earth. Be sure to check it out. (via Gear Diary)

Stylish Satellite Windows Mobile Phone

Elektrobit Phone When you think satellite phones, you tend to think of big, bulky ones right? Even the one on Lost ain’t exactly pocket-friendly. But things are changing because Elektrobit is set to launch a Windows Mobile Professional device that is not only sleek (for a satellite phone) but also filled with features. That’s because, it will have quad-band GSM, tri-band HSPA, GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi. Phew. That’s like a top of the line Windows Mobile phone if you ask me. Unfortunately, it will only be launched in the first half of 2009 so until then, it’s the brick-like satellite phones for you. (via pocketnow.com)

Fancy Android On Your Windows Mobile?

It’s now possible. Unlike other modifications where the ROM is flashed and the platform is loaded, it runs as an .EXE. Which opens up the possibility of running it on just about any Windows Mobile device. There’s a video of it here (albeit short though) that you can check out if you are interested. I am not too sure how functional it is considering that there are no Android phones to compare to but it is definitely an exciting thought of being able to run another platform on your Windows Mobile device. Talk about flexibility. (via Boy Genius Report)
