Great review. I tried SugarSync for the first time a couple of weeks ago, after taking hard looks at several other online sync/backup solutions.
I came to SugarSync after reading about it on TechCrunch as well as jkontherun (I think). I also looked at syncplicity (a close second), Folder Share, Drop Box, and a couple of others.

Bottom line, for $50 a year (for the 30GB package) I no longer have to worry about losing a hard drive to failure and 8 years of digital pics or files. It is a simple interface and the company seems willing to listen to comments/suggestions to improve the product. I don’t know who WOULDN’T have a use for this product.

One other comment. In addition to using it to keep my photos backed up (no need to keep them in sync), the only file(s) I have found that I personally need to sync are for the excellent password manager, Roboform. So no matter which of the 3 computers I am using, I always have the up to date passwords available. <- This should satisfy the “how you would use it”

I have been looking for a good way to back up my photos. I have a usb hard drive, but need something off site for 20 GB of photos. I have had a usb hard drive fail before. I have heard nothing but good things every time I have read about SugarSync. I guess it is time to give it a try.

I’ve been on the Beta since it first started, I think I’ve got about 6 Gig on the site, got an email three days ago that said I had 3 days to go on the Beta. It’s the only alternative I have at work to access all of my work I do at home. It really is a great tool for the mobile professional. But I can’t afford a subscription :)

The biggest benefit for me in using SugarSync would be the ability to sync my files between my work laptop and my new toy the ASUS Eee 900. Popping the SD into and out of both laptops is ok, but I know one of these times I will forget to manually sync and I’ll be out of luck.

The remote access feature sounds exciting as well.

I have been using it to back up my photo’s and music on my Mac. Its a great solution for keeping those things safe. I also use it to store files that I need access to at work or home. Works like a charm.

I have been using it to backup my photos, videos, and music. This is a great and economical way for keeping these items safe and secure. I think this is a great tool for the mobile professional or the user tired of trying to remember which computer is the file that I need right now on.

I hope this keeps me from every having one of those I didn’t have it backed up moments.

Winning it as part of a contest would be even nicer.

I look forward to having the freedom to choose which computer to take with me. All will be backed up and in sync.

I would sync all my files including ISO’s of various software..better to have a digital backup should something happen to the actual disc.

I have a trial account going. Basically I am using it as an easy way to transfer photos from my phone. I’d likely use it for more (especially syncing my account across my three Macs) if I had a permanent account.

I would use it to, ah, backup and sync my files on various machines? Not very creative, I guess.

As a college student this fall, I would use it to sync between my desktop at home and my laptop. I would also sync my XV6700 (too cheap to get the XV6900 as of yet).

I’m looking into Sugarsync after using Foldershare for years. As a software developer, I’m surrounded by multiple machines, physical and virtual, and the need to leverage a common set of utilities, demos, presentations, and sample projects. I’m looking for a solution that extends the capabilities of Foldershare into an online accessible, and recoverable, location.

I am now working from home and no longer have the safety of the server backup to backup my files. I will definitely use this to backup my documents and emails! I am continuously worried about losing my 9 years of photos of my children to a hard drive failure and keep trying to burn them to DVD and keep them in a safety deposit box (in case of fire). SugarSync will make this SOOO much easier. Thank you for the information on this product.
